What is 2 Step File Share?
2 Step File Share is a service for people who need to share files but require exceptional security.
What makes 2 Step File Share secure?
Say Alice wants to share a file with Bob and Eve hopes to get an illegal copy.
Alice points her browser to 2StepFileShare.com and loads her file into the 'Share a File' web page.
At this point the file is encrypted and then uploaded to 2StepFileShare.com for safe keeping until Bob downloads it.
Next, an email pops open in Alice's default email client.
In the email there will be instructions for Bob to download the file and a special, one-time decryption key.
Alice addresses the email to Bob and clicks 'send'.
The key is sent directly from Alice's email server to Bob's email server.
Bob receives the email and clicks on the 'Download' page.
The 'Download' page receives the file from 2StepFileShare.com and Bob is asked to paste the decryption key into the page.
Once the 'Download' page has the decryption key it decrypts the file.
Bob can now save the file to his computer. 2StepFileShare.com deletes the file off their servers forever.
If Eve were to get the encrypted file somehow, she wouldn't be able to read the contents because she wouldn't have the key.
If Eve were to get the key and link somehow, the encrypted file wouldn't be there because Bob would have already downloaded it.
While no system is perfect, 2StepFileShare.com offers great security and convenience.
How long do the encrypted files stay on 2 Step File Share's servers?
Using the example above, once Bob saves a file 2 Step File Share deletes it immediately.
If Alice uses a 2 Step File Share account to upload the file to Bob and decides she's made a mistake, she can log in and delete the file at any time.
All files that still remain on 2 Step File Share servers after seven days are deleted automatically.
I have an idea of how to improve 2 Step File Share. How do I report it?
